WHY? Verna is civic-minded, hard-working and a stellar young professional. She is the first young professional from Metro EDGE to sit on the Metro Chamber’s PAC Board. She is also heavily involved in the Urban Land Institute, Metro EDGE and the West Sac Chamber of Commerce. She’s full of energy and is ready to help anyone looking to get more involved in the community.


–3 words that describe Sacramento to you? So. Much. Opportunity.

–Favorite local cause? West Sacramento Foundation.

–Which Sacramento woman inspires you the most and why? I am blessed to know some of the best and brightest in Sacramento. My girlfriends work hard, strive to make an impact and somehow always look good while doing it.

–What do you want to see in Sacramento in 5 years? Activated rooftops! Gardens, restaurants, bars, and other gathering places.

–Favorite Sacramento guilty pleasure? Salted Caramel Gelato from Devine in Midtown.

–If you weren’t in your current career, what would you be doing and why? Something that would allow me to tap more into my creative and fun side – marketing, events, advertising.

–Growing up, which strong woman inspired you and why? My Mom. She homeschooled me while growing up and I will be forever be impressed with her constant creativity, passion and commitment to allow me to learn, experience life and giving me the opportunities to never be bored.

–What’s the best piece of advice you ever received? “Finish college.” Best advice I ever received which led me to the best decision I ever made to finish my degree at UC Davis.

–What’s the one piece of advice you would give a 20-something Sacramentan woman? Your job isn’t your everything. Invest in yourself, find your passion and chase your dreams.
