My family has become what my five year old calls a Wii Family. Yes, we got a Wii for Christmas. Really it was my gift. My husband bought Wii and Wii Fit for my Christmas present. I had tried it out at a women’s conference I was at and really liked it. I thought it would help me to keep my New Year’s resolution to get back in shape.
Well…in one day I almost took out my 18 month old playing tennis, my husband was up to 1 am playing boxing and forgot to take out the trash and my daughter’s have been exposed to new and colorful language they have not heard before!
Seriously, it has been pretty fun. My five year old has gotten into golf and loves it (she and her dad play together), I love the boxing – great workout and I can take out some of my stress, my husband and I continue our friendly competition over bowling (when we both worked in the Capitol we would bet who would do better at Legislative Bowling Night), and my 18 year old just walks around and tries to stay out of everyone’s way. I did try the Wii Fit program and really liked it, even though it told me I have the fitness level of a 77 year old (I am going to work on that)!
I will keep you posted how my Wii Fit experience goes, but all in all Wii has been pretty fun – we all enjoy it and we are spending a lot more time together, OK maybe in front of a TV, but at least we are having fun doing it!
EDITOR’s NOTE: Now that we’re 3 weeks post-Christmas, it’s time to reflect. What holiday gifts have proved particularly helpful or useful in your life? What has helped you reach goals or keep resolutions?
