Laine Himmelmann, Corporate Development and Public Relations Officer for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento
Do-gooder with a bit of a wild side. Majored in English much to my Mother’s chagrin, but now have the opportunity to utilize my background to make a difference in people’s lives through my work. I spend my week helping build homes for families in need, I spend my weekend either feeding my wanderlust through travel or on the grid with my schmeagolly crew and a gin martini or whiskey in hand. Proud of my country roots and muddy boots and family and friends are everything. In the words of Langston Hughes, “I like to eat , sleep, drink, and be in love. I like to work, read, learn, and understand life. I like a pipe for a Christmas present.”.
Hometown: Clarksburg, CA (Think Bogle Wine/The Old Sugar Mill)
Sacramento guilty pleasure: Press Club after Midnight….and Freeport Bakery definitely Freeport Bakery.
If Mayor Johnson ever asked: Yes, we’d love to have him come speak at one of our Habitat Events
Dream job: Running the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation or being Rick Steves – either one would suffice.
In a past life I was probably: Ava Gardner. Her story of catastrophic love affairs and excessive wine drinking always sounded right up my alley …and I too love Frank Sinatra to a fault.
In the next life I want to be: Amal Clooney – obviously. Girlfriend’s got it together.
