RAW Yoga

By the Editors

Sacramento’s Yoga scene is pretty hot – we have tons of options when it comes to places to practice — from FREE Yoga at McKinley Park to the countless boutique studios with unique vibes. It’s true, we love our Yoga!

Nobody embodies this scene more than our very own Michelle Sweezey. Michelle has been teaching yoga since 2014 here in our local counties and communities, at Ragnar Trail Relays across the United States, and even in Cape Town South Africa! This last fall, when the universe (and two business partners) came knocking, she became one of the owners of RAW Yoga (Facebook, Instagram, Website) and has been working with her team, including her husband, a fellow yoga teacher, to grow and expand its impact and membership.

We asked Michelle to explain RAW’s mission and goals to enhance our community…

The Vibe: Our mission is to use the teachings of our teachers to be of service to our community as we empower others to be the best versions of themselves.  To do this, we believe requires being RAW- Real, Authentic, and Wild.

Our space is clean and simple, our brand is fresh, and our approach to the practice both playful and strong. We are of the mindset that yoga is for everybody and that perfection is neither possible nor necessary. Come as you are, whoever you are, to be whoever you choose to become.

What to Expect: We offer several kinds of classes to help create expansion and release. Our athletic style practices of Power Vinyasa and Bhakti Flow create heat and help you get out of your head and into your body. Prepare to sweat, move, breathe, and smile!  Our yin and Nidra classes are designed to create deep relaxation and rest in the body, to improve flexibility and range of motion, as well as overall mood. Additionally, we offer prenatal classes on Saturday nights for expecting moms.

GOTG is unaware of another Saramento studio that offers this particular blend of classes, along with a wide range of pricing options designed to make yoga practice as accessible as possible for everyone. Bonus: they have a super rockstar staff!
