Friday Faves is our chance to share our favorite local/general and national/lady content from the previous week. This gives us a chance to dive into thought provoking pieces, as well as cheerlead our fave local bloggers. Also, we are adoptive puppy pushers…well, animals in general really – so open your hearts and home and trust us to find you your next best friend.


This adorable little pupper is Jack Jr. He’s about four years old and enjoys long walks and hanging with his friends at the dog park. He’s been waiting for the perfect home for a while now, and would love for you to come see him at Front Street Shelter.




  • Drone enthusiasts descended on the Capitol this week to advocate legislation that they say “makes sense”.
  • The FBI renewed their search for the Original Night Stalker this week.  A reward was announced and authorities hope to find the man responsible for 45 rapes and at least 12 murders in California.


  • After the worst mass shooting in our country’s history, Democrats launched a filibuster on the Senate floor to call for action on gun violence.
  • Microsoft acquired LinkedIn for 26.2 billion dollars  this week. The move inspired thousands to update their profiles for the first time since 2009.


  • Sactown Union Brewery will be donating $1 from all pint sales on Friday to “The Center,” the LGBT Community Center of Central Florida in Orlando.   
  • Join The Sacramento LGBT Community Center, Mayor-elect Darrell Steinberg, The California Endowment, and our GOTG writers for a community art gathering as we support #PrideOverPrejudice and come together to support Orlando.
  • Zuda yoga has a donation based class Tuesday mornings at 7:30AM, they will be donating proceeds to families of the Orlando victims.
