Ales on the Rails
By Jennifer Rabbon (Guest Contributor)
Beer? Food? Live music? It all comes together in Old Sacramento – to the heart of the Gold Rush and the birthplace of the Transcontinental Railroad – and savor the region’s best brews while surrounded by the wonders of the railroad!
Tomorrow evening, October 2, the California State Railroad Museum Foundation will present their annual beer-lovers fundraiser – Ales on the Rails – at 6 -9 pm in the California State Railroad Museum. At Ales on the Rails, you’ll find over 20 popular local breweries nestled in between 100 years of great iron horses of the railroad — full sized steam engines, streamline diesel locomotives, vintage passenger and freight cars, mail cars, sleepers, diners and even private luxury observation cars. Step outside the Museum’s Roundhouse and enjoy the New Orleans jazz sounds of Hot City.
Tickets are $50 per person or $45 for members of the Museum. This year, there will be a special VIP experience for $65. These tickets are limited and include admission inside the two first class cars – Southern Pacific’s lounge cars El Dorado and French Quarter. These unique cars offer our VIP ticket holders a private brew from Yolo Brewing Company with gourmet appetizers created by Courtyard D’Oro’s, Chef Aaron Anderson. You can sit comfortably inside the vibrant, colorful New Orleans inspired French Quarter lounge car or the rich mahogany and inlay wood observation car, El Dorado.
This fundraiser for the California State Railroad Museum Foundation supports the Museum’s education and preservation of our western railroading heritage. Tickets are limited but still available. Tickets can be purchased online at www.csrmf.org. Get them before they sell out!
