When Marilyn’s on K shut its doors, I couldn’t wait to see what would move into this prime location on #TheKay.

…And the Coin-Op Game Room (908 K Street) (Facebook) does NOT disappoint.

We swung by last Saturday night for their soft opening and had such a retro blast!

Let’s start with the space. They gave it a much-needed deep clean and installed a giant bar (with service on four sides) with old video and pinball games lining each wall. Bonus points for installing drink holders to each machine.

They’ve also upgraded the outdoor space by transforming it into a true patio complete with picnic tables and areas for smokers.

Coin-Op sells small bites and pizza, and they have a full bar with over a dozen craft beers. All of the games are 25 – 50 cents…just like the good ole’ days.

This place would be great for a first date or (adult) birthday party. The vibe is a bit giddy – everyone seemed REALLY excited to play their favorite childhood games. The crowd was a tad young, but I saw plenty of 30-40 year olds shoving quarters into the machines and bellying up to the bar.

According to the Business Journal, the Coin-Op’s grand opening is May 28. Hours of operation: 4pm-2am on Monday-Friday and at 11:30am-2am on Saturday-Sunday.

I can’t wait to go back – be sure to check it out!
