Cocktails for a Cause
By Erica Root
Two years ago I found myself in a position that many people can relate to: I was looking for something more meaningful to do to make a difference. I was disheartened by the news stories from across the country restricting women’s access to health care and treating women like second class citizens; I was frustrated not knowing how to change things.
Luckily for me, the answer came in the form of a job offer from Planned Parenthood’s state advocacy office in Sacramento, just a few blocks from the capitol working on something that I was passionate about – women’s rights and health.
While we’ve made significant progress, there’s still a lot of work to be done. Forty years after Roe v. Wade, fifty years after John F. Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act of 1963, and ninety years after women were granted the right to vote — we are still fighting for women’s equality every day.
Be a part of the fight – Join us Monday, April 20 at LowBrau for Planned Parenthood Education Fund’s Cocktails for a Cause. This networking event is for young professionals and Planned Parenthood supporters who believe in equality for women. It is an opportunity to meet like-minded folks and find out how you can get involved in the work we do.
If you – or someone you know – is interested, please join us April 20 for signature cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres. Full event details below:
