Pieology Just Might Break the 16th/K Street Curse
If you’ve lived in Sacramento for 4+ years, you know the tragic story of 16th and K Street. We’re still mourning the fact that Bistro 33 closed in 2010. Afterwards it was a burger place, than an Indian joint and I’m sure we’re missing a few in between.
Folks (ok, we) were starting to wonder if the corner was cursed.
But the clouds have parted and the gastronomic gods have bestowed on Sacramento Pieology (1020 16th Street), which offers “custom artisan-styled pizzas.”
Pieology is basically Chipotle – but for pizza. You choose the fresh toppings, and they fast fire the 11.5 inch pizza in four minutes. #YesPlease
Here are GOTG’s first impressions…
THE VIBE: Totally laidback. The space was completely gutted and redone into a fresh and bright restaurant with quirky/inspirational quotes everywhere.
THE PRICE RANGE: Pizzas are less than $8. Yeah, you’re reading that right.
DRESS CODE: Come as you are – and the patio is dog-friendly.
WHAT TO ORDER: All the pizzas are thin crust, but still chewy (score!). The sauce and toppings are minimal but flavorful. They have seven pizzas in their “lab“, as well as salads and bread/cinnamon sticks, but honestly – it’s way more fun to create your own favorites. Toppings include:
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: This place is pretty straightforward… Fresh ingredients, generous portions, super affordable and fast/friendly service. Fingers crossed that this place sticks around for awhile!
