Girls on the Grid 4th of July Roundup

By the Editors

The 4th of July is one of those holidays where thousands of locals like to skip town and head for Tahoe, San Fran, or (insert any beach town). But if you’re someone who likes to stick close to home and are looking for something fun to do locally, here is our GOTG  4th of July round up!

Local Entertainment:

Raley field hosts the third annual Fourth on the Field. Enjoy local food trucks, live music, bouncy houses for all ages, a kids area, and more importantly a 21+ Solon Club with food from Broderick’s Roudhouse and of course it wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without one of the region’s best fireworks displays!

Cal Expo Fireworks Display – Cal Expo / Doors at 4:30 pm, Fireworks at 9:30 pm / $10 parking

If you didn’t have tickets to the Sac Republic game, no worries. You can still catch the Cal Expo Fireworks Display starting at 9:30pm, doors open at 5:00 pm . Arrive early, especially if you are going with a big group, as parking and seating is limited. If you want to guarantee a seat in the Miller Lite Grandstand, you can reserve a spot online for just $10 here.

East Sac Parade 41st Street / 10:00 am / Free (all ages)

Grab your bikes, your kids and the whole family for this festive East Sacramento tradition. If you really want to get in on the fun, decorate your bike in red, white and blue before the parade, most locals do.

Hornblower Cruise – Old Sacramento, L St Dock / 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm or 4:30pm / $20 per person (all ages)

Not only is this cruise educational, in that it will teach your family the history of how the River helped shape modern day Sac, but there is face painting and ballon animals to keep the young ones entertained. This is a safe, fun, family friendly way to enjoy the River on the 4th.
