The Perfect First Date to Match Your Personality
By Danielle Ball
I have a confession to make: I think I’ve met “the one.” A couple years ago, after some weird encounters with men who were not quite right for me, I elected to go on a dating hiatus. I swore off dating and date-like activities for several months. Although I didn’t experience any major self revelations, I did feel bored. Very bored. So I decided to get back out there and try my luck at love. To my surprise, I fell in love almost instantly. Our dates are exciting, and I’m always learning something new. I’m excited to get dressed up and go out, and I can’t wait for the next occasion to see my paramour. Although the men on these dates have been different, one thing stays constant; Sacramento. Yep, I said it, I’m in love with this city.
With a quickly growing food scene, local sports teams, and a non-stop cast of characters to watch, this city is the perfect setting for a first date. Even if you don’t meet your soulmate, you’re bound to have a good time. With all of these amazing options, it would be selfish to keep this information to myself. Without further ado, my list of the top date spots in Sacramento.
For the outdoorsy type:
If your new beau is a dog lover try taking a stroll along the American River. You’ll have plenty of time to discuss your life stories and you’ll gain brownie points for being nice to man’s best friend. Pro tip: wear real shoes and watch your step. A skinned knee is not sexy.
One of my favorite places to go on warm summer nights is a RiverCats game. The beer is cold and the seats are cheap. If there are a few awkward pauses, you can suddenly get really interested in the game. If you’re feeling romantic, you can watch the fireworks together afterwards and snuggle up under the stars.
For the social type:
If you need a little something to help you loosen up, Pourhouse is a great option. Who doesn’t love a tap right on the table? Not only does this location give you a chance to see how responsible your date is, but the atmosphere is lively and there’s plenty of great people watching.
If your date is into craft beers and you’re into sausage, LowBrau is going to be your new favorite place. Located at 1520 20th Street, you can lounge on the patio and watch the passers-by, or enjoy a delicious order of Dirty Duck Fries. (They taste much better than they sound.)
All in all, my love for Sacramento burns strong. If you’re still looking for your soulmate, (or even if you’ve found them) I suggest taking up an affair with this lovely town. You might just find exactly what you’ve been looking for.
