U Barre: Raising the “Barre” in East Sac
Since moving to East Sacramento a little over a year ago I’ve been searching for a new gym. In my former suburban neighborhood I had a plethora of fitness choices ranging from the national chains, to the small independents, as well as boot camp and cross fit groups that met at the neighborhood park.
Since moving, I’ve tried a few of the local gyms, as well as One Flow Yoga (which I love) and of course TEAMRide – both of which are great but only offer one thing. The gyms themselves have been ok, but offer inconvenient class times (for this working girl) or have additional fees to take a group class.
U Barre offers small group classes featuring Ballet and Pilates movements in a positive, energetic setting. The owner, Gloria Quiming, also offers private Pilates reformer sessions. I’ve found the small classes and private sessions to be both a great workout and a great time. I often leave feeling like I was just at a dance party with my girlfriends.

When U Barre first opened, classes were limited but additional class times have been added over the past few months due to the increased interest and demand from the ladies of East Sacramento (and surrounding areas). While the majority of classes are taught by Gloria personally, she also has two amazing instructors that teach both Barre and Yoga Sculpt – which is yoga class with the addition of light weights (also AMAZING).
If you haven’t had a chance to check out this new hidden gem, you’re missing out! U Barre is definitely raising the bar in East Sacramento and is a perfect complement to both the neighborhood and the area’s fitness offerings!
