Worth It? BirchBox.com

What it claims?

BirchBox.com (Facebook, Twitter) attempts to redefine the retail shopping process by offering consumers a personalized way to discover and shop beauty, grooming and lifestyle products.  You can have access to surprise miniature products in the mail once a month for just $10.

Sure I am a creature of habit and use the same face wash that I was recommended by my best friend at age 17, if it isn’t broken don’t fix it right?  Wrong.

My girlfriend gifted me Birchbox this year for my birthday. I have received only my second box and I am loving it! So far I have discovered a face wash that works with my skin for real (instead of one that I am familiar with) and a new headband to use when I wash my face. The face wash discovery alone is enough to make me keep the subscription after the gifted one runs out.  Finding products that really work for me is worth it when I consider the ladies that hunt me in the Macy’s cosmetic department when I walk by. I HATE that!

Plus who am I kidding I like getting a little gift in the mail even if it is in a round about way still a small bill.

When it comes to my daily beauty routine, I’m about as low-maintenance as a girl can get. I usually just put a little make-up on, throw my wet hair up into a bun and call it a day. As a result, I don’t spend a lot of money on high-end beauty products cause they would go to waste, and I don’t spend a lot of time reading beauty magazines to tell me what to buy.

So Birchbox is perfect for someone like me. I get introduced every month to high-end quality products, from companies I’ve often never heard of, and they are products I would never otherwise try. For example, Birchbox introduced me to a dry-shampoo from Klorane, that I now cannot live without. They sometimes can get a little repetitive with their samples. You can pretty much expect to get a perfume sample every month.  But hey, I love to smell good, and I pretty much never run out of perfume now.

If you do love one of the samples, and decide to purchase the full sized product, Birchbox has every item available on their site. The only problem is they tend to run out of the popular items quickly, so you have to act fast.

The Birchbox staff is also very friendly and responsive. One time they got my order wrong, and within 24 hours of me notifying them of the issue, I had my correct order shipped to me and a full refund for the inconvenience. They even threw in 100 Birch points, which add up to discounts in their online shop. Overall, I think Birchbox is worth the $10 a month to add a little fun and variety to your everyday beauty routine.
