September 6: CB Beer, Wine & Food Extravaganza
The Christian Brothers Beer, Wine and Food Extravaganza (Facebook) is approaching fast and if you haven’t experienced this event yet, you certainly will not want to miss out this year.
The extravaganza is getting a bit more extravagant this year with the addition of the Champagne Lounge. While there has never been a shortage of beer and wine at the event, finding a glass of bubbly has always been a challenge.
The Champagne Lounge is the brainchild of Kellie Duke, Christian Brothers class of ’00. As a member of the Christian Brothers Alumni association and a longtime volunteer at the event, Kellie, a champagne lover herself, has described her experiences in the past as follows:
“Every year I went to the event, I found myself hunting down the two or three TOTAL bottles of sparkling wine I could fine, out of the dozens & dozens of wineries that participate, only to find other people had the same thing on their mind, and I was left with an empty glass (and/or draining Nick of all his cider at the Two River’s van).”
Let’s be real. We all have someone in our group of friends (and it may be you), who would rather get their champs on than slug down glass after glass of wine or beer. For a mere $10 upgrade to your ticket, you will have access to the bubbly and featured champagne cocktails, including the French 75, the Airmail and the Barbotage. Sweet treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes, Capitol Confections and Sugar Mamma’s will also be available. If that wasn’t enough, with the ticket upgrade you could will a door prize from Jenneane’s on J or Magic Salon!
If cigars and whiskey are more your style, you can also upgrade your ticket to experience the Cigar Bar, sponsored by our friends at The Sac Annex. Either way, don’t sleep on this event. It is undoubtedly one of my favorite parties of the year and it is the perfect way to start off your weekend before heading to the Launch Music Festival the following day. Ticket prices go up August 28. Come see me in the Champagne Lounge. I’ll be working at the end of the event from 9-10. I’m sure after enjoying a couple French 75’s, my pours will be pretty generous!
