Sunblock vs Sunscreen. What's the difference?
By Lyndsey Schnabel
People always ask what’s the difference between sunblock and sunscreen and which one is better? Well here is a little breakdown for you if you have the same question.
Sunblock contains physical ingredients that reflect and scatter the UVB light and acts as a wall between your skin and the sun. Look for sunblock that contains Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide as the main ingredient. (Sunblocks do not protect against UVA rays.) Because most brands of lotion are a combination of both sunblock and sunscreen, if you are looking for a true sunblock you should try Neutrogena Sunblock.
Sunscreen, on the other hand, contains chemicals that protect your skin by absorbing and reflecting UV rays and allows a certain range of UV light to be absorbed into the skin. It helps protect against UVA rays as well as UVB. So, you get a bit more protection, which is truly what most people are looking for. Really the key to buying either sunblock or sunscreen is to READ THE INGREDIENTS!! Your skin will thank you later!
