What's New at Girls on the Grid
By the Editors
We wanted to share a few exciting changes and additions to our blog. First, two of our most dedicated bloggers – who have really made our blog what it is today – Ashley Robinson and Chantel Elder will be new editors in addition to co-founders Laura Braden and Becky Warren.
To learn more about these fabulous ladies, we’ve included a brief bio on how Ashley and Chantel describe themselves. For more about them and all of our bloggers go to our “Who is GOTG” page.
Ashley Robinson is Director at Mercury Public Affairs. I’m your typical Sagittarius – always looking for the next adventure. I love to tell stories, paint, study history, debate politics, watch television shows about ghosts, and go wine tasting around the state.
Chantel Elder is a partner at Eleakis & Elder Photography (Land Park) with a background in photography & marketing. Aside from loving all thingsphotography, I also am a self proclaimed “dog lady.” I love cheese of any kind (accompanied by wine), gardening (even though my husband says my thumb is black), and I will try just about anything once. I have a very serious distaste for Barry Manilow (how did he get famous anyway?!) and in my spare time I can be found blogging all of my photographic discoveries.
We are also excited to announce that we are adding some new voices to our blog. All of these women have a unique point of view and we can’t wait to reading their blog posts. These ladies will join our current creative and smart GOTGers: Mary Beth Barber, Amelia McLear, Lisa Page, Jamie Romas (who also organizes our annual SMEB competition), Caroline Silveira, and Amy Thoma.
Alanna Bradley is a brand manager for MeringCarson. I am a happily married twenty-something withalaw school student husband and three canine children. We are a DIY couple with a fixer house — he’s extremely handy and I’m incredibly skilled at following directions. I dabble in running and gardening, love vintage/antique shops, old movies and Sunday brunch (with mimosas of course).
Ashley Bradley is a communications junkie and currently the communications manager for an association management company. I love chocolate, fall, coffee, books, wine, editing and my dog. I also enjoy cooking and baking (though I secretly like baking more because it feeds my sweet tooth). I have a love/hate relationship with working out but have recently convinced myself that I actually enjoy running. It always seems like I am on the go, but when I stop moving for a few minutes you can find me curled up with a book or whipping up something in the kitchen…while enjoying a glass of wine of course.
Kellie Edson is a Communications Coordinator and Writer for the College of Continuing Education at Sacramento State and a part time Zumba instructor. I am a 20-something married kitty-mommy adjusting to the life of being an Amtrak wife. Positives? Free. Train. Pass. Negatives? Perpetual husband absence & learning to be flexible with plans. Obsessions include: list-making, music, movies, plays, concerts, books, bargain shopping, trying new restaurants, throwing parties, softball, Zumba, supporting local and, of course, WRITING!
Kira Heinrichs (soon to be Rasmussen) runs the finances for Athletics Unlimited, a local athletic apparel company, and moonlights as a communications specialist for MSix Wine Group, LLC. I love traveling to foreign places, cooking not baking, sunshine, hearts in the foam of my soy latte, platform heels, fitness, my country, all kinds of sparkling wine, my dogs, and living in midtown.
Marlissa Hernandez was born and raised in Sacramento. She works for the California State Senate. I love to shop, eat and drink. In between the eating and drinking I’ve managed to raise 2 children. I spend my spare time scouring vintage shops, running in land park and checking out local restaurants. I also love to cook for my friends and family.
Chelsea Irvine is a Sacramento gal all the way. A legislative analyst at local governmental advocacy firm Aaron Read & Associates for going on five years, I also get to work my public relations magic at ARA’s sister company, Marketplace Communications, which hit the ground running three years ago.
Meghan McFadyen is a teaching credential student and a substitute teacher. I’m a Sacramento native and returned back to the area two years ago after spending six years in the Bay Area. Having grown up here, I did not expect to return and want to stay, but I’ve found myself liking Sacramento more and more. I love shopping in midtown’s boutiques, walking my parent’s dogs at the river, the amount of dive bars to choose from, and discovering new places to eat. I have a weakness for wine tasting, bad TV, and spur of the moment trips to visit friends in the Bay Area. I also have a knack for knowing the words to whatever song comes on at a bar or at a club, no matter how bad it might be.
Lisa Murphy is a communications consultant at Kaufman Campaign Consultants. Since moving to Sacramento in 2008, I have lived on the grid and find it to be the perfect place for a twenty something professional, to work, live, love and grow. I love to cook, work out, bike around town, hang out at a coffee shops, and watch ridiculous reality television.
Jamee Sims is a Financial Specialist at Paramount Equity Mortgage. I am a thirty-something professional happily living in Tahoe Park with my significant other Cam, our tea cup Chihuahua “Cha Cha,” and our 2 lb gold fish named “Teddy.” I have worked in the real estate/mortgage industry for 10 years. When I’m not at work, you can find me shopping at local boutiques, checking out new restaurants, playing golf, volunteering with the Junior League of Sacramento and blogging!
