Flipping through the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and other fashion magazines, it’s pretty clear florals, the roaring 20’s and subdued colors are 2012’s runway spring trends.

Both Nina Ricci and Peter Som included florals in their shows. Marchesa, Derek Lam and Ralph Lauren brought flappers back to New York City.

Although, color blocking was still prominently shown, Narciso Rodriguez, Proenza Schouler and Lanvin all showcased subdued color.

Before you purchase flights to the Big Apple, take a look at our local neighborhood shops. We’re lucky enough to have an abundance of options right here in Sacramento. Most of the stores offer not only a great selection, but also a personal touch. You can usually talk directly to the owners, and they are happy to help you with whatever you need.

If you love designer labels, head over to Scout Living (1215 18th Street) and check out their vintage and high-end designer clothing. They have a great assortment of 20’s fashion and also some great floral items. They carry flawless vintage and consignment, and they were well stocked with YSL and Channel. Owners Erin and Stefan really brought a great selection of style from their San Francisco store. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to browse their impeccable mid-century furniture collection. If you’re the type that just wants to add an accessory to your ensemble, check out Fringe’s (2409 21st Street) jewelry, shoes and purses.  You’re bound to find a truly unique piece here.

While you’re visiting Scout, stroll on over to Capitol Avenue and 19th Street. Ladybuggz Boutique (1903-B Capitol Ave), Heart Clothing Boutique (1903 Capital Ave) and Felicia Strati (1901 Capitol Ave) all have a variety of floral dresses, subdued color shifts and trousers. Nothing like hitting up three places at once to add to your spring wardrobe!

Robin Lyle (1123 11th Street) has a great assortment for the professional woman wanting to try out new trends.  If you are looking to add a little bit of femininity with some florals, ask to see the Elliott Lauren bold and floral pencil skirt. They also had a great selection of muted colored dresses. Robin and Susan will gladly help find the perfect trend for you!

And if you want to go back in time to the 1920’s, head over to Crimson and Clover (1617 16th Street). This is a great place for fashionista’s who want their style to appear effortless. Owners Nicole and Kara have an excellent eye, and they have a great selection of vintage floral dresses, skirts and (if you are lucky) pants! They also have a private collection of authentic vintage twenties fashion (can be shown upon request). Their price point is very reasonable so drop in frequently as items tend to fly off the shelves.

This is just a small sampling of the stores that carry the spring trends in Sacramento – happy hunting!
