Delight in Southern Food & Film at Verge – This Thursday

By Kristin Thebaud, GOTG Guest Blogger

I’m already drooling thinking about the watermelon salad, smoked pork shoulder and jambalaya at Verge Center for the Arts’ Southern Foodways event this Thursday!

Verge’s Southern Foodways event is a nod to the Southern Foodways Alliance films, which document the diverse food cultures of the changing south.

But Verge always puts a creative twist on any normal event, merging different forms of art to create unique opportunities. Verge’s Southern Foodways event on Sept. 29 will blend film and food with cocktails and a southern food tasting menu by Jaymes Luu of Fat Face followed by a selection of Southern Foodways Alliance film shorts with free popcorn!

You’ll feel right at home on the bayou as Richie Lawrence fills the air with zydeco music. And no Fat Face menu would be complete without a creative popsicle – get ready for your first ever Red Velvet Popsicle!

Tickets are $47 and benefit Verge’s contemporary art exhibitions, artist residencies, educational programming and affordable studio space for Sacramento artists.

Get your tickets before they’re sold out!
