Metro EDGE Hosts Dodgeball and Volleyball Tournament for Charity

Summer seems to be toying with us, right? The weather is more April than June, but here we are – it’s June, it’s summer, and it’s time to get outside and have some fun.

The “Day on the EDGE” event on Saturday June 18 fits the bill perfectly. Metro EDGE , Sacramento’s leading network of 40-and-under young professionals, is putting on its second annual “A Day on the EDGE” fundraiser.

  • Metro EDGE’s Summer Festival
  • Saturday, June 18 at 10am-4pm
  • Boys and Girls Club, 5212 Lemon Hill Avenue
  • Click here to register. No prior experience is necessary, but you must be 21+. But ACT FAST, because the tournament brackets are filling up. The cost is $250 per dodgeball team (max 10 players) or $200 per volleyball team (max 8 players).

The event will feature a dodgeball tournament and volleyball tournament, complete with great music, food, and drinks – all to benefit EDGE’s charitable beneficiary for 2011: Junior Achievement of Sacramento.  The event will run from 10am to 4pm – and attendees will have a chance to compete in the tournaments, or to serve as sideline cheerleaders rooting for their favorite teams.  Last year, the competing teams came ready with decorated team t-shirts and whole lot of spirit.

Metro EDGE, a program of the Sacramento Metro Chamber, identifies and supports a local nonprofit organization through volunteerism and philanthropic giving every year.  For 2011, the group has chosen to support Junior Achievement of Sacramento, an educational organization that teaches financial literacy, entrepreneurship, workforce readiness, and other life skills to students in grades K-12.

Susan Vicchio, President of Junior Achievement of Sacramento, is excited to have such a fun event that’s focusing attention on the organization:

“We are thrilled to be the beneficiary of A Day on the EDGE and to be partnering with such an exciting group of young business leaders. It is a perfect fit for Junior Achievement, an organization dedicated to educating and inspiring our next generation of business leaders”

So if you’re into some delicious food donated by Chipotle, beer donated by Pyramid Brewery and Two Rivers Cider , and great music by the awesome DJ Matthew Cope, then this is the place to be.
