Congrats to WEAVE!

A little birdie told us one of our favorite local non-profits – WEAVE – will receive a $10,000 grant from the Avon Foundation as part of the Foundation’s national Speak Out Against Domestic Violence campaign.

Written by volunteer Cindy Asbell, the $10,000 grant will support critical crisis intervention services available to child victims of domestic violence in the Sacramento Region.

“WEAVE came to my mind because of the significant impact that this organization has made on the life of me and my family. As a child I learned what domestic violence does to a person. My aunt was a victim of her husband’s abuse for years. WEAVE provided the support to get her to a safe place and counseling to heal the wounds in her heart,” says Asbell.

“If it wasn’t for the powerful and meaningful work that WEAVE does I don’t believe that my aunt would be alive today,” says Asbell.

“The support of the AVON Foundation comes at a critical time,” said Beth Hassett, Executive Director of WEAVE. “WEAVE continues to work to balance an increase demand for our services during a time of significant funding cuts. We are incredibly grateful of this support which is needed immediately.”

WEAVE ( is set to receive the grant tomorrow at 8:30am at their HQ (1900 K Street).

Congrats ladies – the work you do in our community is vital and inspiring!!
