Found: Mother’s Day Gifts!

By Laura Braden

I’m from Tennessee and rarely get to go home and celebrate Mother’s Day with my Mom. Thankfully, this neat invention called the “Internet” allows me to order flowers/gifts online and get them delivered to her in a snap. I always look for gifts that are either sentimental (without being sappy) or items that I know she would love and use – but never buy for herself.

Last night I realized that Mother’s Day is right around the corner(Sunday, May 9), so now is the time to start my shopping! And I figured that some fellow girls on the grid may need some ideas for gifts – so here’s my list of faves…

Family Series Pillows

These are too cute. You pick the pillow shape and then the number and type of family members and pets. Starts at $152.00 (h/t to Outblush)

Family Photo Silhouette Print

I want to order this for myself and I’m sans-kiddos. You send her your favorite picture, pick your size and color, and you get back a clever and modern art print. $30.00

Grandmother’s Journal

Ever wonder about the first time your grandmother fell in love? What she thought of your granddad the first time she met him? Is she too shy or does she care more about hearing your stories than telling hers? Well, then this one is really a gift to yourself! Buy this journal for your grandmother and ask her to fill it out completely. I actually did this with both sets of grandparents. I found that they never wanted to talk about themselves, and this journal helped them share stories with me. I now treasure those journals since they’ve passed away. $28.00

RockStar Mom Mug

For the younger mom or caffeine-a-holic.  $12.00 You can always pair this with gift certificates to local coffee shops like Temple, Butch n’ Nellies and Old Soul.

Dashwood Stamp

I don’t know about you, but I hate my handwriting. And I hate, HATE having to address envelopes. This lovely stamp is a real timesaver and perfect for the preppy mom. $40.00

Monogrammed Gardening Gloves

For the green-thumbed woman who has everything! $39.95

Clothing/Accessories from Southern Proper or Vineyard Vines

And speaking of preppy, my two favorite shops are Southern Proper and Vineyard Vines. Looking for critters on your shorts or dress? Pink and green martini skirt? Look no further. Both are younger incarnations of Lily Pulitzer. My favorites are the Magnolia headband, Pina Colada floppy hat and Straw Tote.
