Sacramento Heats Up as Chef Challenge Nears
Nothing beats the Sacramento heat better than a night out on the town and boy oh boy do we have a night for you! On Friday, April 30, 2010 the Celebrity Chef Challenge will roll into Sacramento for its eighth straight year and you won’t want to miss a minute of the action!
Six of our region’s finest chefs will be given 45 minutes to turn five secret ingredients into three power-packed dishes and you get to see it live! This “Iron Chef” inspired event has been gaining attention for the past seven years and has grown to include a lavish food, beer and wine show! What does than mean for you?
Samples from 100 regional restaurants, wineries, breweries and specialty shops. And if that’s not enough, the Celebrity Chef Challenge is held at the California Automobile Museum, which houses over 100 years of automotive excellence for the hot rod lover in the family!
To round it all off, the Celebrity Chef Challenge offers three amazing raffles, so don’t forget to swing by the ATM on you way out, because you won’t want to miss out on trips to Las Vegas, Sonoma, Lake Tahoe or Roundtrip Airfare anywhere SouthWest flies!
Not So Ancient History
The Celebrity Chef Challenge was started in 2003 as a fundraiser for InAlliance, a local nonprofit that began supporting people with developmental disabilities in 1952. The small event originated at the Sterling Hotel and moved to bigger venues as it gained popularity with Sacramento Food Lovers. More recently, the growth of the Food Network and interest in shows like “Chopped” and “Food Network Challenge” has sparked local interest in our live, timed cooking battle!
More Than Just A Meal
The goal of the Celebrity Chef Challenge has always been to raise funds for and awareness of the successful programs InAlliance provides the greater Sacramento area, but what are those programs?
At InAlliance, we have a different philosophy when it comes to disabilities. We believe everyone has the absolute right and responsibility to be fully participating members of society, which means working, paying taxes, volunteering and educating! The supported employment, work and life skills training and supported living services InAlliance provides to our area are vital to the health and well being of our community and make an impact in hundreds of lives each year.
ALL proceeds from the Celebrity Chef Challenge go directly into these programs. This means that while you eat and drink the night away, you will be helping a very worthy cause!
Tickets for the 8th Annual Celebrity Chef Challenge are $50 in advance, $60 at the door and include entrance into the museum, viewing of the culinary competition, and food, beer and wine sampling.
