Amazing Dresses for Easter Weekend and Spring

By Devon Carey Berrier

Spring is not only the season for colorful new flowers, cool mornings greeted with warm afternoons, (and the return of my favorite shows like Gossip Girl and Glee) but it is also the season for dresses—short and sweet, full skirted and romantic, and tailored and professional.  Spring is host to a variety of important events like Easter brunches, bridal and baby showers, and weddings.

And Easter Sunday is just around the corner, which means frills, flowers, and pastel colors are on my mind. I remember as a little girl how excited I would get to pick out my Easter dress (generally there was a hat, socks, and shoes that matched—more often than not, in the color pink). I still get excited to pick out my Easter outfit and this year, there are so many options I don’t know how I will choose! Here are my favorites for spring…

Easter Brunch:

Hinge Printed Dress: I admit that this dress is a little childish, but that is why I love it. The delicate pattern and simple shape make it age-appropriate especially when paired with high nude heels for Easter Brunch.

Tracy Reese Bubble Dress: I cannot stop staring at this Tracy Reese dress—I love the bubble hem. The fitted top and v-shaped neckline give a bit of sex-appeal to this adorable poplin dress. It is perfect for an Easter Brunch celebration.

Baby or Bridal Shower:

Drifting By Dress: This soft blush-colored dress is the perfect option for any shower you are attending—baby or bridal. The sheer and breezy fabric is elegant enough for a formal affair, but can be dressed down with metallic flat sandals for an afternoon event.

Marc by Marc Dress:  The blue color of this dress is striking, while the shape and style of the dress is understated. The contrast makes it a great option for a daytime event such as a bridal or baby shower and can be worn to work with simple black accessories.

Ruched Lace Dress: This Forever21 lace dress offers a lot of bang for your buck. I tend to lean towards anything lacey, and this dress does not disappoint. The little puff ruching on the sleeves is adorable. This dress is appropriate for a baby shower (would not recommend for a bridal shower as the bride usually wears white) or an Easter brunch and is best worn with colorful accessories.

Spring Wedding:

BCBG Chiffon Yellow Dress: When I think of a spring palette, I think of yellows, blues, lavenders, and pinks. Although I am not known to wear a lot of yellow, this BCBG chiffon dress caught my eye. The one-shoulder shape and jeweled belt give this yellow dress some pizzazz and dress up the color to make it a perfect option for a springtime wedding.

Shopbop MIlly Dress: I am obsessed with the color, fabric, and shape of this Milly dress. I do not own a lot of green, but this patterned dress is beautiful and perfect for an evening or daytime spring wedding.

Devon… I love these dresses, but… it’s freezing out! (At least, by Sacramento standards…) Every year come Easter, I’m always torn between (a) rockin’ the pastel, bare-legged, open-toed look and feeling like a popsicle; and (b) sticking to my standard cold-weather black-dress-and-tights look and looking like a pallbearer. I need help navigating the middle ground (preferably within the next 48 hours….)
